A cleansing oil is a type of cleanser that will gently remove makeup, dirt, excess sebum, oils and SPF. The soft texture is the main characteristic that differentiates a cleansing oil from a foam or a gel cleanser. These water based cleansers, if used as the first step, would require excessive rubbing to attain the same result. In some cases they would leave you with a tight and dry feel as opposed to a cleansing oil which will hydrate and moisturise leaving you with a smooth and soft skin.
Which cleansing oil should I use?
There are two types of oil cleansers on the market. They come in oil or balm foil. Oil cleansers were initially developed for sensitive skin that couldn’t handle excessive rubbing and to treat oily skins (Yes! oil on oily skin type works best to get rid of excess and sebum). Nowadays with further research and development, oil based cleansers are specially formulated and adapted to each skin type and skin condition.
How should I use it?
Cleansing oil is the first step of your daily Korean Skincare Routine. It is perfect to hydrate your thirsty skin in the morning and in the evening after a busy day. Both balm and oil can be applied directly with your hands on dry skin. Massage your face, eyes and neck gently with circular movements. It is also possible to use cleansing oil with a cotton pad should you prefer to do so. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry with a clean and fresh towel.
